This update provides a letter recently sent by CT DEEP to the Sound View Sewer Coalition for your review and information. The letter provides historical context and rationale for the determination that a “community pollution problem” exists within the “Old Lyme Project Area” (including Soundview, MBA, OCB, and OLS). Connecticut General Statutes, CGS Section 22a – 428 provides the statutory basis for this determination previously made by the DEEP Commissioner. Currently the Town of Old Lyme is subject to an Administrative Order issued by the DEEP Commissioner in 2015.
