BREAKING NEWS 8-24-2022
We just learned late this morning that the Senate Appropriations Committee has declined our request for federal grant assistance with our sewer project. You may recall our request for $14M was declined by the House, and subsequently taken up by the Senate for $11.2M.
While this is disappointing news, your WPCA has communicated being only cautiously optimistic that these funds might actually be made available to us. Also, we have been examining the potential for these funds to sufficiently offset project costs and return the project to being economically feasible.
At this juncture, our mission remains the same, which is to conduct the business of your WPCA in a professional and responsible manner to bring the sewer and infrastructure project to a logical conclusion.
We encourage all of you to attend or dial in to the Town-wide sewer update meeting on Saturday the 27th at 10am at the Middle School. As previously communicated, the three beaches and Town Of Old Lyme will be providing a status of the project and our current financial projections and issues.
We appreciate your patience as we navigate the numerous issues remaining to be addressed in the coming months. Your WPCA remains fully committed to complete transparency and timely communications. Additional information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.
