Thanks for stopping by our web site to see what’s new at OLSBA!

This time of year we’re all getting back to the beach, opening up, turning the water on (and hoping for no leaks) cleaning the yards of the winter debris and looking forward to the warm days ahead where we can relax on the beach.  Seeing your neighbors and seeing how their winters were and sharing snow removal stories or your travel adventures is always great.  We might not have been in touch since last fall, but one short weekend visit and update and it’s like we were here just last weekend.

While you have been away, your Board of Governors has been very busy with winter projects with the goal of improving our association properties, making conditions safer and looking at our long term ambitions.  We will be discussing these at our annual meeting at the Middle School on June 17th  at 10AM.  We’ll also present our budget and slate of officers for the upcoming year.  Attend and participate in the management of our association.

The Sheffield Brook Project will make a difference in property safety for our lower Sea Spray and Saltaire residents.  Our beach grading is part of a long term project to upgrade the sand quality and improve access to the water. Our sewer and water project is making steady progress thru the regulatory process.  New road markings and safety reminders will prompt us all to remember to slow down on our roads for safety’s sake. We’ll continue to accept responsibility for our own security and rely less on contracted persons with no vested interest in OLS. Summer recreation activities for the kids will be better than ever and the adults won’t be left out of the fun.

Just some other topics to keep in mind:

  • Remember all construction work must be completed or cease prior to July 1st. The exception is emergency work approved in advance by the BOG.
  • Golf carts are not permitted on OLS property and we ask that you abide by this association decision.
  • Be a good neighbor. If you or a guest damage a neighbor’s property or vehicle do the right thing and correct the problem. Failure to do so can lead to potential police involvement, civil actions and a strained relationship here at the beach.
  • Share our beach regulations with your families, guests and renters. We have them to preserve the unique nature of our association.
  • Please follow our regulations yourselves! Some of our most frequent violators are our own owners and their families.
  • If you see something, say something. We can’t fix a problem we don’t know about. Contact myself or any BOG member with your concerns or questions. Don’t be afraid to speak up yourself to assist us in the job we do.

So until next time, I’ll see you on the beach. I’ll always have an extra chair for you to sit and chat!
